Local Madison Artist, Lesley Numbers
Bayview is very proud of its role within the arts in Madison. Now, just one year shy of welcoming 50 new families into the neighborhood, Bayview is embarking on an exciting chapter with the launch of a unique Artist Residency program embedded in the community.
The Artist Residency program will ensure that youth, adults, and seniors living at Bayview and in the Triangle neighborhood have easy access to high-quality art opportunities that encourage creative expression, skill building, and community pride. Local artists will be hired to teach and make art alongside community members for long-term, on-site residencies.
To raise the $100,000 needed annually for the program, Bayview created the La Mariposa Print Series. Each year, Bayview will commission a local artist to create an original artwork inspired by Bayview’s values and residents.
La Mariposa Print Series #1, Tending to Community, is a five-layer reductive woodblock print by treasured Madison artist Lesley Numbers. The artwork uplifts the importance of belonging through nature, home, and community.
There are five ways to support the Artist Residency program and the arts at Bayview. You can pick your artwork up at Bayview or we can ship it to you for an additional fee.
