Bayview's Redevelopment

December 2024 marked the end of a redevelopment project that involved a phased three-year construction schedule, following six years of planning that centered the hopes and dreams of more than 100 residents eager for a healthy, cohesive and vibrant community for their families.

The project replaced 102 obsolete townhouses and a small, aging center with two new apartment complexes, 57 townhomes, a brand-new community center, revitalized green space, energy efficiency measures, and public art projects.

The project was designed by The Kubala Washatko Architects and led by Horizon, with design and consulting partners Smithgroup, MGE, Green Built Home, Spire Engineering, Precipitate, Eco Achievers, Design Engineers and Slipstream.

Financing partners included WHEDA, Enterprise, Sugar Creek Capital, City of Madison Community Development, County of Dane, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Dane County Housing Authority. 

The project expanded Bayview's affordable housing adding 44 sunny, efficient units. The new community center is already a beloved resource that will embrace, educate, support and strengthen children, adults and families in need for decades to come.
